Also, as an Albertan, do you figure now to be a good time to visit BioWare? I hope they’ll share…

  • Kyle MacKinnon wrote a new blog post: Killzone 3 F2P: the future of console multiplayer?   2 months, 3 weeks ago · View

ThumbnailOpinion: Sony may just be changing the way console FPS multiplayer games are marketed in the future with their bold Killzone 3 free-to-play experiment. At first glance, Sony‘s decision to release Killzone 3 ‘s multiplayer component over the PlayStation Network free of charge seems like a decidedly odd move. After all, Killzone 3 is still selling at retail, and at full [...]

“When my character has been so badly injured by a fall that he has to shoot approaching enemies while lying on his back, it grates a little to have him running around unscathed the second it’s all over.” I’m so unphased by stuff like this anymore. It happens far too often in videogames that I [...]

@Jabroni: Let’s start by looking at your source. “It turns out that some bullies—-the so-called “pure bullies”—-tend to be confident and socially well-adjusted.” Note the word some in there: my remark is sweeping (as explained in other comments), but some is certainly not a universal remark. Nor is it all that compelling to believe it’s a [...]

Not in defence of myself but this is a blog post, not a dedicated research study. It should be noted that even with a sample of 80, that’s a tiny amount of respondents. It’s also highly localized (hence NHL 12 beating out, say, PES) so rather than questioning the specific numbers (which I can provide) [...]

Let me start by playing the blame game: this is a blog post first and foremost (and under the blog/opinion section) so there is a giant “I think” or “in my experience” in everything I’m saying. So no, I haven’t gone out and done a nationwide (which nation?) study, though I’d love to. And as [...]

I fear the flight may be a tad long and/or pricey. I’m in the area in the New Year. Surely one of you will drink with me then. Beyond that, enjoy taking over a pub. Denby, I expect nothing less but the barman and you drunkenly singing some ballad together. On Youtube.

“Bad” meaning a 4.5 is poor by BJ’s standards. I, personally, would have awarded a 6.5-6.9. I don’t think it’s a brilliant game, but it’s certainly serviceable. I think there’s a lot more to the title than plot!

Of a six paragraph review, but one is clearly focused on the game mechanics while a second focuses on the multiplayer (a joy, in my mind). Is story such a selling point in this genre that an arguably weak one is the lone criteria (seeing no mention of the average graphics anywhere) for giving a [...]

Disagree 100%. This is one of the finest takes on the genre in recent years. The story is trite, yes, but it serves the larger purpose. Mechanically, it’s very accessible. Any fan of the genre will embrace the game; those new to it should find it to be solid title; especially for a system so [...]
