Happy Halloween!

Its that time of year again! Halloween today. Bonfire night next Saturday and then before you know it its Christmas! But lets not get ahead of ourselves!

Get in the spirit of things this week by changing your avatar to something spooky and grab yourself some XP at the same time!

Following on from my post last week, the first week of You Review begins here!

This week, after a brilliant suggestion from blakehu, is Portal: Still Alive!

An awesome starter as it has a very wide audience!

So as stated last week you can review it in any way you like. The internet is full of reviews for games from sites all over the world, obviously you should stick to BeefJack, but a review is simply one persons critical look at a game. It is never going to be completely objective. A lot of people use reviews to judge which games warrant their hard earned cash.

Every week I will put up a new game, hopefully one most of you have played, and then you guys can review it. This is where your creative licence comes in. You can review it in any way you like. This can mean just giving it an overall score, or breakdown the score into different areas like graphics, gameplay, story, music, replayability etc. And you can of course accompany any of these with written reviews if you wish.

For this week all I need from you guys is the games you want to have a go at in the coming weeks. They can be old or new and on any platform but try to choose games that you think a lot people will have had exposure to.

You can make suggestions by commenting on this thread or by heading over to this forum thread.

So what games do you want to review?

So today is the day Gears 3 finally releases. It has a huge following and is a defining game for the 360. This week its simple, as I don’t want to take up too much play time, just change your avatar to something gears related. you can change your current picture so it includes something gears-esq!

So Dead Island is out. I for one am loving it, but what I want to know is what type of weapon specialisation would you choose in the impending Zombie apocalypse?

Dead Island has 4 characters each with a specialisation:

Sam B: Blunt Weapons

Xian Mei: Sharp Weapons

Purna: Guns

Logan: Throwing Weapons

Obviously this is a realistic question so take into account the realistic factors If you were to be a weapon specialist there might be a distinct lack of ammo or guns depending on the legal restrictions in your country!

The most creative answer (with a bit of detail) will win themselves 1000XP, with all entries earning 200XP

Over the last month we have seen some competitions including the flash game competition for DNA where @newtothegame won a copy of Metal Drift on Steam, and various XP competitions/giveaways. There will be plenty more of these over the coming months so keep your eyes peeled. As always any ideas for competitions or forum games just let me know and I would love to get them up on the site! We have also had a lot of new members joining up and some new first time posters on the forum which is awesome.

This month has also seen the start of a new feature on the editorial side of the site which we are calling have your say. This is a feature where we want you to give your opinions on a topic. You can find the first and second topic here and here with a new one each week. Whats more we will be selecting our favourite comment to receive a whopping 1000XP.

What have I been up to?

So the last month has been as busy as ever for me. I finished a job, migrated back to my parents house for the summer, started a new job and still found some time for games too. Most of what I have been playing has been documented quite well in this nice little thread but I have generally just been playing games to help me tick over to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and for the start of the Rugby world cup! This month I finally gave in and bought a copy of Call Of Duty Black Ops to see what the fuss was about. In all honesty it was a very underwhelming experience due to the praise the game has had but still a good game and obviously people love it! I will try not to make the September round up a Rugby World Cup round up as that will take most of my time next month! I am very excited for Gears of War 3 which is only weeks away and will probably manage to pull me away from the world cup!

Coming up

I am going to look to do more competitions which will be based on

• Gears of War 3 themed competition
• Flash game XP giveaway
• Lots more awesome stuff!
