I know its been a while since we have had a round up for the month, and for that I apologise, but from now on you should start to see some more activity on that front.

Over the last month we have seen some competitions including the flash game competition for DNA where @newtothegame won a copy of Metal Drift on Steam, and various XP competitions/giveaways. There will be plenty more of these over the coming months so keep your eyes peeled. As always any ideas for competitions or forum games just let me know and I would love to get them up on the site! We have also had a lot of new members joining up and some new first time posters on the forum which is awesome.

This month has also seen the start of a new feature on the editorial side of the site which we are calling have your say. This is a feature where we want you to give your opinions on a topic. You can find the first and second topic here and here with a new one each week. Whats more we will be selecting our favourite comment to receive a whopping 1000XP.

What have I been up to?

So the last month has been as busy as ever for me. I finished a job, migrated back to my parents house for the summer, started a new job and still found some time for games too. Most of what I have been playing has been documented quite well in this nice little thread but I have generally just been playing games to help me tick over to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and for the start of the Rugby world cup! This month I finally gave in and bought a copy of Call Of Duty Black Ops to see what the fuss was about. In all honesty it was a very underwhelming experience due to the praise the game has had but still a good game and obviously people love it! I will try not to make the September round up a Rugby World Cup round up as that will take most of my time next month! I am very excited for Gears of War 3 which is only weeks away and will probably manage to pull me away from the world cup!

BeefJack’s April at a Glance

April has come and gone, the Easter Bunny brought Eggs, Jelly Beans, and even Chocolate. That’s right, even we here at BeefJack got in on that action with our Easter Egg Hunt.

The community has shaped up to have some very fun and creative contests, ranging from an avatar day, a major 3 heat contest where a Carbon GT Wheel and Steam Games were given away, to our current contest BeefJack Clue, if you’re interested in playing a round of BeefJack Clue, post your interest here, we may have enough time to bring you another round later this week.

Lets just say I got myself roped into another couple of iOS apps.  It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Storm8 and TeamLava, so it should be no surprise that TeamLava has created a few new iOS apps that have grabbed my attention.

This is my nightclub – Club Tren.  I’ve got dancers, some chairs for chilling out, tables for those drinks, wall decorations, and of course the bar area.  What kind of club would it be without the bar and dance area?

Zoo is the game and zootrass is the name.

Pre TeamLava social apps, I was not really into them, as for a bit Zynga was the heavy hitter for that market.  More and more have hit the store and have really come a long way.  Some of these tappers are my favorite games to play when I don’t want to get involved with a 80 hour console game, well ok not all are that long, but you know what I mean.

Aside from playing new iOS apps, I’ve also gone to the movies to see Rio, and enjoyed time shopping (girly quota met).

I spent most of April bouncing back and forth between Halo: Reach and COD BLOPS only to inevitably come to the conclusion that I am tired of both of them.  Portal 2’s release on the 21^st was a breath of much needed fresh air.  After completing the single player campaign and mining it for achievements, I have spent most of my online game time either playing through the Portal 2 co op campaign (which is amazingly designed by the way), or playing the Gears of War 3 Beta which I just picked up last weekend.  Although I was never a huge fan of the multiplayer for either of the first two games in the series, I am completely hooked on this beta!  I’ve also tried playing Worms: Armageddon on XBLA a few times but there are only about 7 people playing now and they can all easily kick the crap out of me and my intimidating team of Teletubby named worms.  I’ve also been playing a lot of games on PSN…  Oh wait…

I’ve also been managing BeefJack’s new Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/beefjacker).  If you haven’t checked it out yet I highly recommend you do so!  It’s got some really great game trailers dev diaries, video reviews, and other original BeefJack content

When I haven’t been playing games I have either been grilling, riding the motorcycle, or doing much needed (and much hated) yard work.
